Our Last Echoes Book Review

Image
Our Last Echoes by Kate Alice Marshall   Wow. It’s been too long since I’ve read thrillers. It also really freaked me out at times (especially when I was reading it at night.) But then again, I do get scared pretty easily. 😆                       You can get it  here   on Amazon ................   Synopsis:  In 1973, the thirty-one residents of Bitter Rock disappeared. In 2003, so did my mother. Now, I've come to Bitter Rock to find out what happened to her--and to me. Because Bitter Rock has many ghosts. And I might be one of them.   Sophia's earliest memory is of drowning. She remembers the darkness of the water and the briny taste as it filled her throat, the sensation of going under. She remembers hands pulling her back to safety, but that memory is impossible--she's never been to the ocean.  But then Sophia gets a mysterious call about an island names Bitter Rock, and learns that she and her mother were there fifteen years ago--and her mother never returned. The hunt

Prepped Book Review

Image
Prepped by Bethany Mangle Book Review     I don’t read many contemporary books. I read a lot of fantasy. So this book was a little out of my comfort zone. It sounded kind of interesting, but I didn’t know if it would keep my attention or not. I did get a free ebook of this in exchange for an honest review, so I thought I would give this book a fair chance.    It’s about a girl whose family are doomsday preppers, along with their whole neighborhood. Everything they do revolves around preparing for the end of the world and Becca is tired of it. And when I say they prepare for the end of the world, I mean they PREPARE. They go WAY overboard.        I don’t know about you, but I’ve definitely had times where I want a bunker with everything I’ll need just in case the world ends. (Especially since last year) But damn. The neighborhood in the book goes so far beyond that. If you are in any way curious about what that might look like, then you’ll be interested in this book.     I really liked

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue Book Review

Image
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab  Wow. My heart broke for Addie.    This is a beautifully written story. And it isn’t just a good story. It’s a reflection of morals and human nature. What we yearn for and what we’ll give up to get it.    The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue  is a modern classic.    It took me a while to read it, so I heard constantly about it. So many people seemed to love it that I was scared it wouldn’t live up to the hype after I read it. And honestly, that’s how it seemed to me for the first little bit of the book. But that quickly changed. This book was definitely worth the hype.    I loved V.E. Schwab before this book, and I love her even more now. The back of the book was not wrong. It is a story you will never forget. I’m certain this is a book that will be remembered for a long time.  RATING: 5 stars                        Click  here  for a copy of the book!

Cress Book Review

Image
I just finished the audiobook for Cress by Marissa Meyer. It’s the third book in the Lunar Chronicles.  Each book adds a new character to the mix, intertwining them into the story. The character, Cress, is loosely based off of Rapunzel. The first two books, Cinder and Scarlet, are based off of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood, respectively.  With each book, this series gets better and better! It’s amazing how Marissa Meyer can create such an elaborate world where each new character fits in so perfectly.  These are such new versions of these stories everyone knows. If you love fairytale retellings, you will love this. Even if you don’t, it’s not an in-your-face kind of retelling. It’s an “oh, look at those similarities” kind of retelling.  Also: As I said, I listened to the audiobook, which is amazing for this book!! Rating: 5 stars                                         Cress - Amazon

The Golden Compass & The Subtle Knife Reviews

So I know this trilogy came out like a million years ago and I’m just way behind, but here we go.  I listened to the audiobooks for the first two books in the His Dark Materials trilogy. (I have a hold on the last one at my library).  A lot of people love these books. But honestly, I wasn’t so impressed with the first one. I liked it. It was good. But it wasn’t as super awesome as people make it seem. To me, at least. But I loved the second one! I’m really not sure why, but I thought the second one was SO much more interesting than the first one. And now I am so excited to read the last one.  The Golden Compass: 3 stars The Subtle Knife: 4 stars Have you read this trilogy? What did you think?

See Her Die Review

Image
Hello everyone! I recently finished reading See Her Die by Melinda Leigh. Oh. My. God. That book was amazing! I love thrillers and mysteries and this one was soooo good! It has so many interesting aspects and so much that I did not see coming.  This is the second of the Bree Taggert books (I haven't read the first one, so you can definitely read this one first if you want, although I believe they do talk about what happened in the first book). I did recently find out that the first one, Cross Her Heart, is available for free with Amazon Prime so I will definitely be reading that.  In this book, Bree Taggert has recently been named sheriff and she strives to be a good leader while struggling to take care of her recently orphaned niece and nephew. They get a call about a shooting with no evidence that a shooting even took place. Just one not-so-trustworthy witness. And then they find a body.  I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review. Rating: 4 stars
